Term 2 Classroom Reset: FREE Classroom Posters, Resources and More!

So, you’re preparing for term 2 during the holidays. What’s new?

A new term is a chance to reset and bring an exciting new energy into your classroom. The challenge, of course, is doing that without adding to the mental load or dipping too far into your own pocket.

I have gathered a collection of free and low-cost classroom decorations, posters, and practical tools that can give your classroom the reset it deserves. These resources are designed to brighten your space, support learning, and ensure a smooth start to the new term for you and your students.

Classroom Resources

After what I’m sure took a bit of getting used to, you’ve probably got some fantastic routines set up with your students. Unfortunately for some, the holiday break means that those routines have flown right out of the window and your students might need a gentle reminder of your classroom expectations.

That’s why we designed some free, printable posters that will get you right back on track.

Createl Classroom Chore Chart

Our free Classroom Chore Chart is a simple way to assign responsibilities and ensure they get done. If you print it at A3 size and laminate it, you can write on it with a whiteboard marker and use it throughout the year.

Createl Colourful Birthday Chart

As the year goes flies by and everything in your inbox is marked as ‘urgent’, it can be easy to accidentally forget important events, like your student’s birthdays, for example.

Our free, colourful Birthday Chart is a great way to show students that you care (and helps you avoid any awkward ‘I forgot’ moments). Students also love knowing who’s birthday is next so they can plan a special day for their friends.

Once again, this poster can be laminated for repeated use!

Alphabet Posters

We all love a beautiful classroom, but a practical classroom is obviously the priority. That’s where Alphabet Posters come in. For lower primary, Alphabet Posters are a fantastic tool to reinforce learning and give students a constant visual cue.

Here is a set of Watercolour Alphabet Posters by My Nerdy Teacher on Teachers Pay Teachers.

I even found these awesome Auslan Alphabet Posters, which are a beautifully inclusive addition to any classroom!

Aussie teacher Miss Morgan’s Classroom has these Rainbow Auslan Alphabet Posters available on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Children’s Book Character Posters

In addition to Alphabet Posters, you can support early literacy and the power of storytelling with posters that reflect their favourite stories and characters. Not only will your students be inspired, but this kind of classroom decoration will help create a warm and engaging reading environment.

I found these adorable, free Children’s Book Character Posters by Teaching Kinder Kids on Teachers Pay Teachers which you can download here.

Createl Languages Word Wall Kit

Did you know that an estimated 1 in 5 Australians can speak a language other than English? Incorporating languages into your classrooms is a fantastic way to boost brain power and celebrate and validate your students’ identities. That’s why we made this Free Word Wall Kit, which provides a flexible way to introduce vocabulary from a range of languages, building inclusivity and strengthening students’ linguistic awareness.

PLUS, read why incorporating other languages in the classroom can be a gamechanger for linguistic learning and inclusivity!

Children’s Mental Health Classroom Posters

Supporting student wellbeing is just as important as academic learning. A small but significant way we can do this is with visual reminders. I found these free Mental Health Posters, which I have linked below. The designs are simple, straightforward, and meaningful. I’ve also linked a set of Mindfulness Colouring Sheets that can help create a calm, supportive atmosphere where students feel safe and grounded.

Inexpensive Classroom Tools

Throughout term 1, you might have noticed that your classroom was missing a few practical tools to support your teaching.

Here are some affordable options that can really make a difference to how your students engage with the lessons and work within the classroom.

Magnetic letters are a great tool for literacy activities, allowing students to work on phonics and spelling in an interactive and creative way. I found this set at Kmart for just $10.

I’m a firm believer that hard work should be rewarded, and there are so many ways you can encourage your students every day that don’t involve fidget spinners or costly toys. This Education Merit Pack from Kmart stood out as an inexpensive but ultra practical addition to any classroom. Inside you will find stamps, stickers, and even learning awards.

If you’re after a range of stickers that are a bit more specific, our pack of 210 Merit Stickers are super cute, high quality, and great value at just $10.95. You can find them along with other sticker packs and accessories here on our Createl website.

Createl Reward Jar

Similarly, I made this free, downloadable Reward Jar to help reinforce positive behaviour in a fun and visual way!

Simply print out the PDF, cut out the sticker sheet, and use Blu-Tack or any other reusable adhesive to add your rewards into the jar.

Createl Classroom Posters for Catholic Schools

For Catholic schools, we also have a selection of Classroom Posters available, with sets priced between $27.95 and $29.95 or individual posters for $4.95 each. (These are physical products only, with no digital download option.)

Poster Sets from $27.95 – $29.95 or $4.95 each. Digital download not available.

We hope that these resources help to refresh your classroom and support your students in term 2!
